The MD Comptroller's Housing Report
Housing report shared via my social media accounts of Delegate Matt Morgan, Chair of the Maryland Freedom Caucus.
Is Maryland politics making you move? If you are considering it, you are not alone, as the most recent Comptroller’s Housing Report confirmed that 2.3 million Marylanders have already left the state. Like most things, Annapolis wants to treat the symptoms rather than treating the disease.
This led me to make a series of social posts last week on the Maryland Comptroller’s Housing Report, and I thought you would find them interesting.

Every day, I hear from another Marylander who is planning to leave. The Comptroller’s recent Housing Report confirmed this trend, revealing that over two million people have already moved.
This isn’t a partisan issue; I know people from both sides of the aisle are watching. So, if you’re one of the many considering a move out of Maryland, I think you will find several of these posts from my Facebook and X accounts interesting.
The Comptroller’s Housing Report hit the nail on the head. I can’t help but notice that Marylanders are mostly moving to a state where they are freer, safer, and where the cost of living is much lower, and where the state’s politics more closely reflect a conservative point of view.
The Comptroller’s Housing Report does claim that international migration is another reason Maryland needs more affordable housing. What happens when millions of people, both illegal immigrants and legal refugees, are introduced into a country? Could it lead to higher housing costs for the citizens? Is that fair?
On a side note, Maryland now spends half a billion dollars more on English as a Second Language Students than it did pre-pandemic. So, while Annapolis Democrats welcome a new voting bloc, they send the bill to you. Think about that the next time an elected Democrats try to sell you on affordability.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is right, and the most recent MD Comptroller’s Housing Report confirmed that high taxes, expensive energy bills, and the soaring cost of living are forcing Marylanders to leave. 2.3 million Marylanders have already moved to more affordable states. But like most reports from Annapolis, it treats the symptoms instead of curing the disease.
Instead of building cheap high-density housing from the Eastern Shore to the mountains, how about Annapolis focuses on why people are moving in the first place? Maryland should not have a tax and energy policy that depletes your checking account and forces grandma and grandpa to move from their home.
Cut taxes and fees, increase energy production, and crack down on crime, and before you know it, Maryland will once again be the jewel of the Chesapeake.

No surprise! And yet the Left continues to vote for this and blames everyone else. Thanks for the article and details.
